In 2004, H+E supplied a TOVEKO sand filter to provide tertiary filtration of effluent at the Airbus factory in Hamburg.
Typically the settlement tank or floatation stage of an industrial effluent treatment plant removes the suspended solids present down to perhaps 10-20mg/l and very often this is either not good enough to meet the local discharge legislation or, at best, is borderline. In such cases, so-called “tertiary filtration” is used to remove the small remaining concentration of solids, ensuring total compliance with the discharge requirement.

Airbus Industrie is now building a new assembly factory in China, and H+E has received an order for another TOVEKO filter, which will be supplied early in 2008.
Unlike other types, TOVEKO sand filters are only 2.3m high and therefore fit very easily into confined spaces. Their low height means that they can often be gravity fed, avoiding the need for inter-stage pumping. Uniquely, they also react automatically changes in the state of the filter bed, increasing and decreasing the sand washing rate, and stopping it altogether when there is no flow through the filter.
All TOVEKO filters are made from stainless steel, ensuring a long, low-maintenance life cycle.
