San Kan Oh is a range of “Functional Water” generators used in the electronics industry for the cleaning of components to an extremely high standard. As electronic components become ever smaller and yet more powerful, the need to ensure that they are absolutely free from contaminants that would interfere with their efficient operation becomes ever more important.
Typically, in order to achieve the extremely high levels of cleanliness required, strong chemicals are used to remove metals and solid particles from component surfaces. However, this practice has a number of disadvantages:
- The cost of the chemicals used is substantial
- Large volumes of expensive ultrapure water are required to ensure the components are rinsed free from chemicals properly.
- The cost of treating the resultant wastewater is high
- Overall environmental impact is substantial
Some years ago, it was clearly established that, in its ultrapure form, water can be used to perform important cleaning tasks by the dissolution of low concentrations of pure gases in the water. This so-called Functional water is produced by dissolving hydrogen or ozone in standard ultrapure water and then performs the same role as standard chemical cleaning methods with virtually no need for chemicals at all.
Organo manufactures a wide range of Functional water units under the brand name “San Kan Oh”, which means “Oxidation / Reduction King” in Japanese.
The smallest unit is the H-300 unit, which can be easily moved about by one person, would sit at one end of your office desk and produces 300 litres per hour of Functional Water. At the other end of the scale, the largest custom-designed system produced so far produces 48m3/h (210 USgpm) of Functional water.
The smaller models of San Kan Oh units are very simple and straightforward to install and use, and are CE and S2 certified. A sample of the smaller standard units available is listed below. These are Reducing water units that dissolve an adjustable concentration of hydrogen into ultrapure water:
